As your stay is based in the heart of the Périgord, you will find it quite
easy to reach most of the popular areas without any fuss.
The region is well known amongst other things for its Fois Gras, a local duck liver pate, and also for its many varieties of wine.
A visit to some of the vineyards is a nice opportunity to sample the wine, and
see how it's produced.
Here are just a few suggestions you might like to try.

Cénac
has its own market day on Tuesdays.
Generally the markets start at around 08:00 until about 13:00
If you
feel the need for some retail therapy, then head for the bigger towns like
Bergerac or Sarlat,
where you will find more variety of shops. Or you could spend a day's shopping
in Bordeaux,
which is easily reached by train from nearby Sarlat. The train journey
takes 2 hours. Sarlat
is a beautiful medieval town rich in history, where the shops are open well in
to the evening during peak months.
There are some lovely bars and cafés, that you can sit outside and watch the
world go by. There
are Hypermarkets near the larger towns, if you wish to buy in bulk for instance,
and are easily found.
Worthy of a mention, is the city of Périgueux (1 hr drive from
Cénac).
Known as the Capital of the Périgord, here you will see some remarkable
architecture modern and old,
where some of the buildings are of Gallo-Roman times.
You can't miss the Cathédrale st-front, an Aquitanian domed church located in
the medieval quarter overlooking the market square. Shops,
Restaurants and Culture abound!
Canoeing,
Cycling, Fishing, Horse Riding, Swimming, Walking, Quad Biking, and even Hot Air
Ballooning!
All these activities and more, are available locally, should you wish to try
them. Canoes
are available to hire in Cénac, where you can take a trip on the river
Dordogne.
You're only a 10min walk to the house from the river. The
location of the house is ideal for walking or cycling to nearby towns and
villages.
There
are many Restaurants to discover.
Depending on your tastes, you could spend an evening in nearby Sarlat,
where you will find a choice of fine dining amongst the splendid medieval
architecture. We
can recommend the Restaurant "Hôtel Au Bon Accueil" in Limeuil,
situated at the top of the village,
you can dine on the terrace under the old grape vine canopy during the warm
summer evenings. "Hôtel
du Château" in Campagne, has a very nice Restaurant with a choice of
Périgordian menus.
Also try "Le Bistrot d'en Face", a small Restaurant in the village
square of Trémolat,
where you can enjoy locally prepared cuisine and home made puddings.
